I dreamed of a space without traditional walls, replacing them with brass filigree shelving and Italian glass doors, adding a sense of openness and camaraderie throughout the design. Seeking an outdoor-indoor experience with such intimate mountain views, I created refined elements of white oak merged with patina'd metals, rugged limestones, and a sense of tranquility. The furnishings, rooted in earthy naturalism, whisper informality and sanctuary.

The heart beat of this home nestled in Big Cottonwood Canyon comes directly from the palpable and imposing mountain views. With doors sliding to disappear, walls of glass head to toe, we chose to create this open floor plan allowing for ease of living and a generous connection.<br /><br />Infused with nature’s pure energy, the luminous spaces of refined detail span both the upper and lower level providing intentional respites for loved ones to abound.  Layered with leathered Collemandina slabs, hot-rolled steel, wire-brushed white oak, raw natural wools, comfort actually precedes aesthetic and yet they unite in one open front.

This home’s story began with my client making the trek from Los Angeles to Utah seeking peace and a rich outdoor environment with a recipe for easy living.  Our architectural phase began with the insistence of capturing the abounding views of Mount Timpanogos just beyond the Jordanelle Reservoir beneath Deer Valley. A scullery kitchen provides high function  partnered with luxe quality details both in hand in a custom brass hood overhead.  My palette is derived from nature’s earthen clay, blue spruces and boulders of sedimentary limestone.

Warm metals like brass and steel complement the rugged surroundings, while textures of woven wools and boucle provide contrast. Every bathroom and kitchen features stone slabs for an earthy touch. A zen platform at the bottom of a grand stairway of white oak serves as a serene landing, illuminated by carefully placed lighting. The clients blended their individual tastes into the overall design, resulting in personalized yet cohesive spaces throughout the home.
