The Hangar
Retro-Chic
This hangar opens first to a cozy lounge serving as a hangout waiting room before a flight. I wanted this space to be filled with a detectable energy of cool. Upon first sight is a hanging 70’s style black fireplace, accompanied by a pair of P60 lounge chairs by Vittorio Introini for Saporiti, Italy, from the 1960s in a soft, unexpected mint tone. Floating between the well-worn chairs is a suspended fireplace designed after the 1968 open fire by Dominique Imbert.
An unpredictable kitchen remains open-faced with walls of glass and vertical wood slats, intended to add a touch of swank. This kitchen has no hood but features a solid brass pipe for exhaust, along with a circular bar table floating atop the island, adding to the unexpected charm. Long hanging pendants drizzle light onto the all-steel free-standing staircase, where we chose bronzed cables to add a sense of industrial masculinity. Just outside the interior windows, you catch a glimpse of what's to come: a ride in a jet to an unknown destination.
