Before and After: A Fresh Traditional Overhaul
I saw the steep 12/12 pitch on this home, and my answer to taking on the project in suburban Salt Lake City was a definite yes. This before-and-after had the potential for a complete transformation. I had met the owners only once before being given the freedom to create and curate what I truly envisioned to make their dream a reality. We gutted and reimagined the space, transforming its vanilla flatness into a charming haven for a family of eight. Adding wood shingles and painting the brick was just the start, while moving the home’s essence to what I call a fresh, authentic traditional style. Shiplap walls, elaborately layered architectural moldings, and finely tooled light fixtures infused the home with classic allure. The grand entry features my custom-designed front doors adorned with unlacquered brass, followed by a white oak handrail climbing 20 feet tall. The kitchen, designed for real cooking while open to the understated family room, fostered togetherness. Reflecting my Connecticut heritage, this project tells a never-ending story of home.
